INTRODUCING NYC KEYBOARD FEST FEATURING KIDS ON SYNTHS, ADAM TENDLER & VESSELS TO MOTHERLAND IN PERFORMANCE AT MANHATTAN’S GALLERY MC

NYC KEYBOARD FEST (Founder & Director: Danica Borisavljevic) is a 3-part festival featuring live music performances for any keyboard instrument, electronic or acoustic, with a unique program ranging from contemporary piano works after 1950 to original electronic music and improvisation — performed by children aged 6-11, and adults of all vintages.

KIDS ON SYNTHS — Consists of kids ages 6-11 performing their own electroacoustic music and/ or contemporary piano repertoire. Apart from learning electronic music, composition and improvisation at early age, Kids on Synths is specifically interested in researching children’s innate creativity and natural music-making ability. It’s an experimental venture into the fields of early music education and creative processes for musically gifted children, providing young artists with exposure to contemporary music repertoire at the early stages of education and performance.

PIANO AFTER 1950 — this part of a festival will feature contemporary classical piano with a requirement that all participants must include at least one composer of color in their repertoire.

ELECTROACOUSTIC + BEYOND — Will feature composers/ performers on all keyboard instruments, synths, acoustic pianos, toy pianos… You name it.

The objective of the Festival is to erase the boundaries between musical styles in keyboard/ piano music, typically isolated by venues, performers and audiences. NYC KEYBOARD FEST will attract a diversity of performers from varied musical/ cultural backgrounds and ages, while providing an experience that reflects the complexity of time and space we all occupy today.
